about

The bath is where I conceptualize and spend a good amount of time thinking. It is peaceful and a most relaxing place for me to ponder. The original idea for this very album was in fact conceived during a bath.

This collection of pieces were written for performance on a digital Piano or
synthesizer with the performer exploring the limitless possibility of software choice. The instruments that I have used are not the definitive sounds that the work should be performed with and the character could easily be changed through the choice of the performer and the manipulation of sound. Although the pieces are perfectly fine in solo form, this album presents them over the top of an accompaniment. The accompaniment is of a bath that I recorded, which 'runs' in a partnership with the music. The music itself is inspired by and influenced from a multiplicity of not only the sounds and nuances of the bath alone but also the thought processes, emotions and intuitions one may experience. Being in the tub can incite one to think deeply about the world outside the comfort of the bathroom and can bring forth interesting philosophical thinking. This mood is what drove the music.
